GOTONG ROYONG - 27th June 2009

This is my group they were supposed to concentrate only at the allocated place (Kawasan A) but it was completed within 15 minutes so some of the teachers guided the students back to the school compound to help the others out.
But some students have to stay with us parents and well the pictures tells all.

Two parents guided the students to pick up those leaves and plastic thrown by un.... (no comment).

Parents if you do see your children in here, I am sure you are proud of them. Thou, many yakking, but they do the job well. Well done gals, keep up and thumbs up!!

Finding ways to pick up the rubbish thrown into the drain.

Ok, lets split up and do fast.

Oh my, my, look at the drain. Who is the irresponsible culprit? says one of the student.
Wait I am thinking how to clean up the drain.

Another "Thumbs Up" for SMKSM gals.

The drain was so muddy, slippery, smelly and those are beers. (expired beer thrown into the drain by irresponsible culprit).

Stand aside girls time for us guys to chip in to help.
Another SMKSM showing his capability. "Mom, I am a big boy".
Not to worry parents, - many broken beers and its smelly, so before our students get drunk by inhaling those beers.
We decided to call it the end though we have not completed in clearing the drain.
We are going to leave it to DBKL or Alam Flora.

Too bad, DBKL personnel does not help so our SMKSM boys have to do the loading.
Thanks to one parent for his help.
Does anyone knows whats inside the basket? They are those beers from the drain.

Guys, we girls can help too.
After loading those rubbish to the DBKL vehicle we decided to call it the day.

Gotong royong is one of the activity that we can gather all students working hand in hand irrespective of age, class, position held in school or race to achieve a target.

My comment, as a mother I am proud to have child like you.

JALINAN MESRA (REPORT CARD DAY)

26th June 2009,

Report Card Day (in plain English)

Numerous parents came as early as 7am hoping to beat the crowd but anyway, the actual time starts at 8am.

It all went on smoothly. It ended at 12.30pm.

Traffic??? Hmm, it was good as most are quite co-operative and not much of a hassle.

Thanks parents for your co-operation and your support.

Teachers' Day 29th May 2009

The teachers entertain and show their talents to the students.

Mind you, the students were so happy enjoying the songs that were sang by teachers.

Off course, there were performance, dances of the good old sixties "the A-go-go", drama by the students, breakdance and many more. They (the students) were great.

The drama was good and there were many laughters around.

On behalf of the PIBG, we wishes you all Teachers a "HAPPY TEACHERS DAY"

The Choirs Having a Happy Moment on

Sorry, works have been keeping me pretty busy lately. I apologise for not updating the blog.
Am sure that you are happy to see your child (if they happen to be in the Choir). They are busy having a good lunch with their choir teachers celebrating their recent success.
Keep up the good works!!!!!!

Good News

Something good happen today and I am extremely happy about it. With so many ups and downs, the students remember that tomorrow is Teachers' Day and they are having a lot of surprises for the teachers.

Ok, you ask how I know. Thats simple, cos a number of students came forward and ask to confirm what are the food they can and cannot bring to school and also how to approach permission from the school. Off course I am refering to form 1 students.

They even go to the extend of collecting monies to buy pizza and cake from Secret Recipes. That is a comfort and I am very sure that the teachers are very touch by it.

Parents, with these actions by the students I am positively sure that even though they have ups and downs with the teachers, it is proven that our children are growing up learning to handle things (forgiving, accepting, listening and loving).

Good work done not only by the teachers but the parents as well.
On behalf of the PIBG group, we wish all mothers "Belated Happy Mothers' Day", all teachers "Happy Teachers' Day and all fathers (not to worry we did not forget you) a "Happy Fathers' Day.

So lets all enjoy and thank you.

CHOIR FINAL - 2009

Watching the students sing remind me of my younger days but anyway let me get back to the point.

Some of you must be wondering why the students are showing off their medals at the foyer.

As most working parents are not aware that SMKSM made her way to be in one of the 5 schools who make it to the final. They really work hard, I have been seeing them practising for this event.

Yes, they should be proud they made it to the 2nd place.

Today, these few students have not only made their parents proud.

They have made the Pengetua, teachers and their friends proud too.

Some of the Form 1 students came forward to me to find out what is happening and when I told them of the news, they also jump up with joy. They even request me to help them find out as to how to join the Choir.

Confirmation from the Headmistress Pn Halimah, the school choir actually did it on their own with only a school teacher guiding them. There is NO, I said NO tutor outside training them.

Furthermore, when we look at other school most of them have about 35 students but ours is below 30.

I dare say, and am very extremely sure that Pn Halimah and all school teachers including all students are proud of you.

Hei, you guys really made the school PROUD.

Keep your spirit ongoing. The young ones are looking up at you!!!!!!!!!!

28 April 2009 Primary School Choir Competition

Bravo, this year again SMK Seri Mutiara is the host for choir as I mentioned earlier. The chairperson is no other then our Pengetua; Pn Hjh. Halimah bt Haron and the Vice is our charming always smiling En Abdul Aziz bin Md Hashim.

There are about 18 schools primary school taking part in this competition today. Off course, I saw many proud parents too supporting their child. I was informed by some proud parents (primary school) yesterday to watch the event and as well as to give some support for their child, so not to disappoint the child I did again. (Hahaha, being nosey again).

Frankly, speaking I realise that some students approached their former teacher shaking hands and hugging the teachers too.

I should say the school (SMKSM) should feel proud and satisfied today was that our afternoon session students behave very well and was showing good example to the primary students.

"thump up" and "keep up" the image of the school.

Tomorrow, about 23 secondary will compete with one another.

CHOIR 2009

Time has come for another year of Choir. Look at SMKSM students preparing for the choir competition to be held on 28th April and 29 April 2009.
What I admire most is their keeness in taking part in the competition. Yes, though everyone wants to win but there are only few prizes!!!!
To me, winning is not so much important (though it is good) but it is their EFFORT that I admire MOST.
Keep up girls and boys.

Beware of kidnap-ransom scam calls, says Chong

This is an article from the Star today. Sad to say, that there are so many cheaters around.

My personal advise to parents:

1. please do not send your child to school too early.
2. please advise your child to stay within the school compound when they are in school.
3. please pick up your child at the appropriate time. please do not let them wait too long hours
in school. Sometimes, I notices that some children had to wait for hours for their parents to
pick them up in school.
4. pick up the phone and call the school if you happen to receive such call.

Beware of kidnap-ransom scam calls, says Chong

KUALA LUMPUR: If someone calls you claiming your child has been kidnapped and demanding a ransom, you may want to check on your child’s whereabouts first.

According to MCA Public Services and Complaints Department head Datuk Michael Chong, a syndicate has been attempting to trick parents into paying a ransom when the child was actually safe.

Chong said his department had received reports of several such cases, and urged the public to be on the alert.

“One case involved a lady who was told to pay a ransom for her son’s release. The syndicate even played her a child’s voice (over the phone) asking her for help,” he said.

Chong said the syndicate had threatened to kill her son if she lodged a police report.

“However, the lady, feeling something was amiss, went to the school and found out that her son was safe,” he said, adding that the woman lodged a police report at the Kelana Jaya police station.

Chong added that parents should have their children’s school phone numbers so they could call to check on their whereabouts if they received such calls.

Students get hooked on drugs after ‘try outs’

STUDENTS from a secondary school in Cheras became drug addicts after they were given “try out” drugs by dealers, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.

When the students become addicted, they were forced to beco-me runners for the dealers, it said.

The daily reported that the dealers looked for their victims at the 24-hour cyber cafes across the school.

Balakong state assemblyman Yap Lum Chin said he had received three complaints from parents that their children became addicts in the last two months and urged the police to look into the matter.

> Parents have been urged to first check on the whereabouts of their children if they received telephone calls claiming that they had been kidnapped, China Press reported.
Recently, many parents received calls alleging that their children were kidnapped, with the callers demanding a ransom for their release.

The latest case involved a kindergarten teacher who was told that her 13-year-old daughter had been kidnapped, and that the girl would be harmed if the family did not pay RM60,000 for her release.

The caller had let the girl’s elder sister hear her cry, it reported.

The teacher later found out that her daughter was safe in school just before she paid the ransom.

A police report was lodged.
