The back drain and road of school

At least the back drain and road are cleared from mud as a temporary measure. There is a built up of about 1 to 2 feet high walls to protect the water to the TNB sub station.

The school is still working with the DBKL and contractors to settle the problem.

Your patience are much appreciated.

This is also an extract from "The Star".

Teenage seems to get hooked easily. We need to join hands to save our kids. Don't you think so?.

An advice for teenager please remember be alert and not to be con into this kind of action. You might land yourself in trouble just like her (in which off course I hope not).

Pregnant after sex blackmail

JOHOR BARU: A 14-year-old schoolgirl got pregnant after being blackmailed into having sex with a teenager whom she befriended via the short messaging system (SMS).
The girl, who only wanted to be known as Ling, is now five months' pregnant.

Ling said she befriended the teenager when she received an SMS asking her to be his friend in early March but he disappeared after being informed that she had missed her period.
She said the teenager, whom she knew as Ah Wing, molested her and took nude pictures of her with his mobile phone on the first date.

In trouble deep: Soon looking on as Ling relates her ordeal to journalists in Johor Baru yesterday.
“He called me again three to four days later and threatened me, saying that he would put the pictures in the Internet if I did not comply.

“This time we met at a hotel and had sex,” she said, adding that Ah Wing also took short videos and blackmailed her for sex regularly.

Ling’s father sought the help of Johor MCA Public Services and Complaints Bureau deputy chief Rodney Soon to warn other parents to keep an eye on their daughters.

Many parents don’t know their own kids

An extract from the Star News.

Many parents don’t know their own kids

INITIALLY, I too felt sorry – just like the writer of the letter “Teachers should not act like hooligans” (The Star, Aug 6) – for the pupils who had to sit on the floor to do their homework in front of their classmates.

Although it appears to be a cruel punishment, we should not just jump to conclusions that the teacher concerned was punishing the pupils with the intention of abusing them. The act might be done out of desperation.

Parents always believe their kids are angels because they don’t know them. Many parents hardly spend time with their kids on a daily basis. Most children are shoved to tuition classes, one after another, and to the child-minders daily, before and after school and even during weekends and holidays. Many parents do not know what happens to their children, how they behave and what their problems and needs are.

They expect school teachers to be totally responsible for their children’s development, be it physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social, and are ready to point a finger at them for any mishaps, discipline problems, academic failure and social problems, just to name a few.

Thus, the pupils made to sit on the floor in front of the class could be hyperactive delinquents, causing havoc when in close proximity with other kids and so had to be isolated but kept right under the teacher’s eyes. It may be the teacher’s last resort to maintain discipline in class and to ensure that the homework is completed by them and the other pupils. Usually, delinquent kids feel no shame where they sit.

To get a clear picture of what happens in school and in the interest of their growing children, it is advisable for parents to visit the school regularly. They will get to know who the teachers are, the progress of their children and be familiar with the culture of the school.

Where bullying and extortion by pupils occur frequently and if their own child is affected, their regular presence in school does help to protect their child.

Currently, teachers’ woes are unending. They are bogged down by miscellaneous duties and activities, besides having to teach big classes of restless pupils. It is unrealistic for parents to expect teachers to be supermen or superwomen and to pass on all their responsibilities to them.

Instead, they could cooperate with teachers, be understanding of the teachers’ plight and volunteer their services within their capacities to improve school discipline, academic achievements and sports performance, among other things. In some countries in the West, parents even volunteer to be involved in the welfare of the schools.

MEETING

The person in pink shirt En Aziz, Mr Stewart Law, En Adnan from JBA, Puan Sasi ..........
Cannot see me of course, I am taking the pictures...
Received a call from JBA department that appointment with DBKL and others will be coming over to the school on 7th August at 10am.
To my surprised when I reached school at 9.20am the guard told me that Syabas had arrived and went out for a drink since the others are not here yet.
Minutes later, all other involved government representatives arrived. I was shocked that there were 20 officers.
We started to walk around the surrounding of the school and showing them the problems that we are facing since April's flood.
After about more then 30minutes of showing them around we had a meeting with them in the conference room.
I was very happy when the Director of JBA informing certain parties to get the problems solved within a grace period of 2 weeks.
At the meantime we are applying for a walk way (pavement) for students to walk so that they do not need to walk beside any vehicle.
I hope they will do it and I am sure lots of parents are as ease when the surrounding of the school is clean.

Keusahawanan - Seri Mutiara

5th July 2008 at 8.30 to 1pm.
People coming in for the above started as early as 7am hahaha student lah who else. But one of the AJK came in early too.

So far so good as most of the student behave very well. Keep up the good work. I am sure your headmistress (Pengetua) and teachers are very proud of you all.

At about 1.30pm I saw most of the student cleaning up the place without hassle and most are very co-operative.

I guess some of the stalls are making good monies. You know what one of the student helped me to buy a bowl of laska. I usually do not eat "mee" but that day a student and a teacher kept telling me that the laska mee tasted very good and asked me to try. Not to disappoint them I tried. Suprisingly, I guess I really lost a lot of good taste of "mee". The laksa tasted fantastic I am really missing the good taste.

I really did not have any time to move around to see what those stalls were selling but I do know many students were surrounding the stalls bet there must be lots of good food around.

Another, good moment were that some students were performing the "break dance".

Wow, there are great. Should think of organising a "student break dance competition".

What do you think? Anyone know about the games stalls???? Please tell me....

Eventhough, I was exhausted but I enjoyed it. Makes me feel to be back at school which I MISSED most.
